[Portrait - November 2005]Dr. Eric Durant is an associate professor at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). He teaches in and is the director of the computer engineering program.

During the summers he is a DSP Research Engineer at Starkey Laboratories in Berkeley, CA. His research includes using genetic algorithms to efficiently fit audio processing parameters in hearing aids (US patent 7650004), robust perceptual rank inferencing, and beamforming. At Johnson Controls (1996–1998), he worked on Internet technologies, GIS, and building control interfaces.

Dr. Durant earned bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering and computer engineering from MSOE. He earned his master's degree and PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan. He is pursuing the Executive Master in Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (2011, expected).

Dr. Durant is a senior member of the IEEE (S'93 M'02 SM'06) and a member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) (M'02).
