This course provides an interdisciplinary introduction to the concepts and practices common to various engineering fields, including terminology problem solving methodology, basic analytical tools, laboratory practice, computer tools, working in teams, and an introduction to the engineering design process. (3-2-4)
Objectives
On successful completion of this course, the student will:
- Demonstrate an ability to describe what engineers in various disciplines do.
- Understand and apply the engineering design process.
- Be able to function effectively as part of an engineering design team.
- Understand the relationship between engineering practice and the student's chosen field of study.
- Have used a variety of technical writing formats.
- Have planned and delivered a technical presentation.
- Be able to use fundamental lab instrumentation, including multimeters, pressure gages.
- Understand and use basic engineering terminology and methodology, including the design process.
- Be able to fundamentally apply engineering tools and the experimental process.
- Be familiar with the performance of selected engineering devices typical of key engineering disciplines.

Team Teaching

Quizzes
A nearly weekly quiz will be given. Quizzes will be announced at least one lecture in advance. The lowest quiz score will be dropped. No make-up quizzes will be given.
