Bill Clinton works for Hewlett-Packard
Suppose Bill Clinton goes to work for Hewlett-Packard after he's done at
the White House. Let's assume that he is put in charge of quality control
for a particular printer assembly line. How should he decide which printers
are of high enough quality to be sold? He could do something similar to
what Michael Jordan did, that is, he could print out a test image and see
if he thought it looked good enough. I don't know that much about Bill,
but with a good night's sleep the night before, he might manage to adequately
evaluate a couple hundred printers. However, sooner or later all of the
printouts are going to start looking the same and Bill's ability to
evaluate their quality will drop. In any case, paying Bill to sit there
all day long and look at the printouts would be pretty expensive.
