Purpose

In this quiz, you are to demonstrate that you can successfully submit an assignment using the electronic submission guidelines.

Forum

Support forum sign-up:

Create an account on my support forum and add the latitude and longitude of your home town in your user profile. You may find this webpage helpful for converting your street address to lat/long. In addition, you must post at least one message in the SE1010 subforum. Your message should contain at least one fact about yourself. In order to receive credit for this portion of the quiz, be sure to indicate who you are in your post (or by using an obvious login name). Please note that you must click the link contained in the welcome email message before you will be able to post messages on the forum.

XML Submission

This video is a 14 minute video that describes the XML document procedure that you will use for this quiz. Here is a template file to use as a starting point for this report. You will also need the cctHW.xsl file in the same folder as the .xml file.

Write:

a brief statement (one paragraph) describing your current level of programming experience, and
a brief statement (one paragraph) describing what you expect to learn in this class.

Also, indicate which of the following statements are true:

If a report is due at 11:00pm on Tuesday, the best possible grade I can receive is 80% if I submit it at 11:05pm on the Wednesday (the day after it was due).
If a student from another section completes a similar lab assignment before I complete mine, it is okay for them to email me a copy of their code in order to give me ideas on how to write mine.
The lowest attempted assignment lab score will be dropped when computing final grades.
If I know of any errors with my source code (e.g. doesn't compile, crashes under certain circumstances, etc.), I am obligated to mention this in my report.
If my instructor does not email me to let me know that he received my lab report, I should assume that he got it. After all, no news is good news.

Then follow the electronic submission guidelines in order to submit your "report" electronically.

This report will serve as your first quiz score.

The report is due by 11:00pm Monday of week 2 though you are encouraged to submit it sooner if you can. If you have any questions, please ask me.
