Heritage Days 2006

Highlights from the 16th Annual Heritage Days Car Show in Clatskanie, Oregon on June 24, 2006. This show is sponsored by the Clatskanie Cruisers. 266 cars were on display at this show, and I managed to photograph many of them. The winning cars were listed, with photographs, in the Clatskanie Chief. This was a great help in putting together captions for these pictures. Also, a number of the cars at this show belong to members of Lower Columbia Classics, and are featured on their website, which was quite helpful as well.

This is a 2005 Big Dog Ridgeback Chopper. It is powered by a 117 cubic inch engine by S&S Cycle mated to a 6-speed Baker transmission, and features a 300mm rear tire.

This 1969 305 Honda Dream was purchased by Lloyd Smith in May 1969 for $395.00, in the crate.

Scott Spears' 2004 Harley-Davidson won the Best Motorcycle category.

Denny & Correne Scufare's 1940 Ford Coupe was the Runner-Up in the 40-49 Modified category. It is powered by a 405hp Chevrolet LS6 Chevelle engine with a GM TH350 Transmission. Some of this car's other features include air conditioning, power steering & disc brakes.

Joe & Gloria White's 1929 Ford Model A was the Runner-Up in the 29 & Older Stock category.

Bob & Marion Carrow's 1950 Plymouth Coupe

Joe Viera's "Bad to the Bone" 1955 Ford F100 won the 59 & Older Truck Modified and Gent's Choice categories.

Vic St. Onge's 1941 Studebaker Commando Sedan Coupe won the Orphan Class category. It is powered by a Chevrolet 350 V8 and features a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Positraction Rear End and Ford Mustang II front end with disc brakes.

Butch Rodal's 1962 Chrysler 300-H is one of only 400 produced. It is powered by a 413 cubic inch, 420 horsepower V8 with two 4-barrel carburetors and a 3-speed automatic transmission. The upholstery, carpet, bumpers & chrome are all original.

Tim Harris' 1941 Willys Coupe won the 40-49 Modified category.

Jay Anderson's 1936 Plymouth 4-Door Sedan won the Under Construction category. The dark grey is the car's original paint. It is powered by a Mopar 318 cubic inch engine with a 904 automatic transmission and has an 8-inch Ford rear end and a modified Mustang II front end.

Pete & Carol Mahnke's 1959 Chevrolet Impala "Barbarella, The Space Car" in Satin Beige won the 50-59 Stock category. It is powered by a Chevrolet 350 V8 with Edelbrock intake manifold & 4-barrel carburetor. This car's features include power steering, brakes & antenna & factory air conditioning.

Kirk Blecha's 1929 Ford Model A later won 1st Place in the Automotive Stock, Pre-'50s category in the Heritage Days parade on July 4.

Rick & Tracy Thackery's 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS was the Runner-Up in the 60s Muscle Car category.

Pat Santee's 1955 Chevrolet won the 59 & Older Truck Stock category.

In 1957, brothers Lloyd and Larry Smith were given a brand-new black and yellow 1957 Chevrolet Two-Ten as a Christmas present from their parents. The car was sold in 1964. In 2003, Lloyd's son gave them this 1957 Chevy, identical to the original.

Bob & Shirley Lott's 1957 Chevrolet Pickup won the Best Paint category, and was the Runner-Up in the 59 and Older Truck Modified category. It features a Corvette 327 cubic inch 359 horsepower engine, transmission, front & rear end, as well as Blaze Red Crystal Pearl paint by Johnson Auto Body.

Scott Duckworth's 1966 Chevrolet C-10 won the 60 & Newer Truck Stock category.

Pat Davis' 1966 Volkswagen Beetle was the Runner-Up in the 65-69 Modified category.

Kris Nelson's 1965 Mercury Comet Caliente Convertible won the 65-69 Stock category. It is powered by a 320 horsepower Ford SVO 302 cubic inch V8 with a C-4 automatic transmission and is one of only 2,036 produced.

Fred & Liz LaRue's Daytona Blue 1964 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible was Runner-Up in the Corvette category. It is apparently 1 of 7 equipped with its particular list of options, including the 327 V8, power steering and special front & rear suspension applied to only 82 1964 Corvettes.

Gary & Marie Hanson's 1965 Ford Mustang was purchased new by Gary's mother, Mary Alice Hubbard. It retains its original 300 cubic inch V6 engine and 3-speed manual transmission.

Fred Dyson's 1933 Ford 2-Door Sedan won Best Host Car at the car show, and also won 1st Place Automotive Modified Entry in the Heritage Days Parade. It is powered by a Chevrolet 350 V8 with a Turbo 350 Transmission. Among its many features that were not standard in 1933 are air conditioning, custom steering wheel with tilt column, power windows, power seats (from a Ford Thunderbird) and a ceiling-mounted stereo.
