This 1951 Ford Coupe was one of several cars on
display in the Mt. St. Helens Room.

Another car in the Mt. St. Helens Room was this 1964
Chevrolet Chevelle SS Hardtop Coupe.

This 1986 Buick Grand National was displayed by Ds
Motorbox, a repair shop in Kelso.

This
1933 Ford Deluxe Fordor Sedan was displayed by Jeremy and Rachel
Dillinger of Kelso. The car may have been used by notorious criminal
John Dillinger, though the connection is not known for certain, nor does
Jeremy know for certain if he is related to the bank robber who shared
his last name. They

purchased
the car from Jim Farrar of Milan, Michigan (home of the prison that held
John Dillinger's girlfriend Evelyn Frechette) who included the various
John Dillinger artifacts displayed with the car. John Dillinger had a
preference for using stolen 1933 Fords as getaway cars, which were very
common at the time and had powerful V8 engines. John Dillinger even
wrote to Henry

Ford
in 1934 praising the cars; a copy is in Jeremy and Rachel Dillinger's
collection. A collection of stolen 1933 and 1934 license plates from
Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin were found hidden inside the car
during its restoration. These states represent the area where
Dillinger's gang operated. The gang

would
switch plated between robberies. Dimples on the car's body suggest that
the car was once shot at, adding additional credence to the theory that
Dillinger used this car. Inside the car, vintage weapons like a tommy
gun are displayed, as well as a sack of fake money.
For more information about this car, see the
following newspaper articles:

Talking Gangster from The Milan News-Leader
This
1934 Ford Coupe was also displayed by Jeremy and Rachel Dillinger.

News
